Ballads can be crazy things
Bringing about stretched musings
& lines from poles that don’t exist
See, he is not fishing for you.

They sit with you for evening tea
Swooning shadows with his cologne
Wrapping around your heart until you moan
& you only call it sighing

They frolic neath a childlike sun
& leave you obvious & glistening
Resting for hours, the lyrics sound!

& there’s not one good thing you’re missing.

There are some mighty things that I must do
Without you
So many suns to set inside my
Rearview mirror
A vision of a master piece, I must cling to
Till one day, this you - I dream, appears
And if they laugh I will stay the course
For laughter at dreams is often
Jealousy or ignorance
& there are mighty things that I must do without you
To prepare for all my life when you are here

Still

One moment, in the midnight sky
I saw two stars that were your eyes

They seemed to shed a bit of glimmer
Upon my hands I saw a shimmer

I thought upon it as a sign
And slept beneath your eyes, divine

Too Plentiful, Some Sorrow

So here I am
Alone
I am stone
You are air
I am every inch of
What I don’t want to be
And I can’t move
I can’t even crawl
My aching is so deep
I see the hole of it below
My sorrow is so vast
I am the ship in it
And I don’t know how
To steer
Or else
I don’t know where
To go.

snowball moon

I miss you
And the sounds from your head
The rolling of life as it always was
Like spinning underneath a finger

I can see us as children
It is a driving pain
& one of the dearest things

I picture you
Mostly so late
We gather in the snowball moon
& not one person knows me there
This cry I give to God
Tell me why, please tell me why

And I just want to talk to you again
This wish weakens me – tragic

Till my eyes close like
your ending
a train colliding with, a cloud

Poppies and Lessons

Sometimes I get tired of it all
And I want to be whisked away
To some boat
Some lake
And the boat would be old
having a fascinating history
with a look of charming dishevelment
And the lake would be sheltered
With draping trees and haloed sunbeams
With signs of love songs sung long ago
And a rose reflecting like Shakespeare knows
I’d give you that look
You’d give me the look
And we’d sail away neath
The baking sun
Like two little kids
Little birds
In love
I’d kiss you fine
So remarkably
You’d buy the boat
Like gold
We’d hide it
Near poppies and
Lessons and run home
Love-sick and
Clean

Aria
I know you
Like a little diamond
Flickering in the distance
Neath violet-loved grass
and the almost evening
shadows.

In your world there
Will always be a paper boat
I set it within a lake on
an August afternoon
the tiny golden flowers
of your name will forever
trace the way

My Aria, sweet heart
Darling, light
& free.

thinking of day and night.

Your eyes moved
Freely over me as
Butterflies swung on
Sun drawn bends
My heart streamed your
Loveliness, internal
Warm petals, surrounding my
Head, an ethereal bed of
Light and wings
Spilling your voice into my soul
Absorbing cloud nine
Through my lifted breast
As promises grew
Into brimming day vases
Your kisses left a
Curved staircase to the
Height of me, whole
It is always not too soon
For your star falling
Eyes to set a pattern upon
This midnight blue stretch
Your influence draping the moon

In crimson.

always or never.

Always or never.

I was thistles of charms
I was stems of perennial secrets
Forever June in pearl a casket

All lost hearts rested inside sea caves
Paper dolls hid in flower boxes
My head spun for nothing
Until it turned into milk glass
& sweet sweat summers &
For- hiding- willow trees
(breathe out, you must)

It’s the seahorse in your eyes
The coating of your hands upon mine
The fake champagne too
I sense I am that still
& only just like this, near you
Please stay with me! always
Or never.

Girl with Time

Morning love

I’ve got my
Eyes on you
Peripherally

One fourth of you
Is still smashing

A smidgen of a maybe light in your eye
Is a buttercup flower
A chocolate filled with valentine
An edge of a cliff
A trance
A slap in the face
A dance

A delicate chain
Attached to a star
To pull, neatly

As we unite

Dusk dreams
Still love
Midnight

She often loves, in circles
She often fades like ice
There are many stars she’s chosen
But wandering is her vice

& like an old carousel, she’s broken
Beautiful, though tired
Still late at night if you press her

-She sounds just like her colors...
